A community built around procedural dermatology
Our story
SkinCourses is a Canadian student-led initiative focused on practical dermatology education. Our biopsy workshop brings a concise teaching talk, supervised skills practice, and open discussion into one accessible session.
Our mission
To create engaging, accessible learning experiences that help medical trainees strengthen technical skills, build procedural confidence, and connect with others who share an interest in dermatology and procedural medicine.
- Learning through action — each session pairs focused teaching with hands-on practice
- Open and accessible — free workshops with all materials provided
- Taught near-peer — led by residents and senior students who remember learning it
- Growing a national community of learners passionate about procedural dermatology
One workshop, built in three parts
Our biopsy workshop moves from clinical context to supervised practice, with time to ask questions and learn alongside other trainees.
Focused teaching talk
Begin with a practical discussion of biopsy techniques in dermatology, including when to biopsy and how clinicians choose an approach.
Hands-on biopsy practice
Practise core biopsy techniques on realistic models with instruments in hand and step-by-step guidance from instructors.
Discussion & connection
Ask questions, compare approaches, and connect with residents, senior students, and peers who share an interest in dermatology.
Learn the technique, then put it into practice
Each session pairs a focused dermatology teaching talk with guided biopsy practice, so learners can connect the clinical reasoning to the hands-on skill.
